Friends forever ... blind Lily and her guide dog Maddison play in the park

LIFE has been ruff for blind Great Dane Lily who has been looking for a new home since July.

But the adorable pooch needs a new owner with a heart big enough to take on her AND her guide dog Maddison.

The pair have been furm friends for five years, ever since Lily lost her eyes to an incurable condition which caused her eyelashes to grow into her eyeballs.

The orbs became so damaged vets had to remove them.

After the operation brave Lily, 6, had no time to paws and feel sorry for herself because a new pal in Maddison, 7, took the sightless hound under her wing.

The devoted dog leads Lily around when they are out, walking close to her and touching her to let the blind pooch know where to go.

Sadly the owners of the inseparable pair could no longer cope with looking after them.

The hounds have been waiting to be re-homed at the Dogs Trust in Shrewsbury, Shropshire since July.

Centre manager Louise Cabell said: "Maddison is Lily's guide dog, she is a support method to her.

"If they are out and about, for the majority of the time Maddison will lead and Lily will walk nearly touching her so she knows where to go.

"It's lovely to watch. Maddison is very thoughtful and is always looking out for her.

"With her lack of sight, Lily's other senses have heightened so, although we don't split them up often, she can tell if Maddison is nearby."

The two also cuddle at night.

"They curl up together to go to sleep and they are very vocal with each other.

"Lily does all the things that normal dogs do and if you saw her from a distance you wouldn't even realise she was blind."

The Dogs Trust are worried that potential owners will be put off because they come as a pair.

Although the dogs are a big responsibility, Louise says: "These are two lovely big girls who deserve to live out the rest of their lives together in comfort."

The Dogs Trust care for about 16,000 dogs every year.

NEWBORN: DANA-MARIE

Completed a newborn session with a precious 9-day old baby girl. She was not a happy camper with all the lights and clothing changes (wait til she's a teenager - that will change!!), but we still managed to get some really great shots, including "Baby's First Halloween" shots. Check back in a few days for a preview and check my website for her complete gallery in about a week.

Want to schedule your newborn's pictures? The first 2 weeks of life are like no other time in a baby's life. Contact me for more details!
